Necrotizing fascitis which has been the object of public attention due to the apparentent emergence and the growing virulence of the causative agent is not a novel disease. From 1960 only has been reported 38 cases from the scientific literature and no one was in Spain. Of the 38 cases-12 has been described on forehead and periorbita. In the present article, necrotizing fascitis is reviewed and a comment is made on its classification and causative agents.
