Biography :

Dr. Vandana Sakhre has over 19 years of experience of teaching, research and industry, which includes 14 years as Assistant Professor, 2.5 years of Industrial experience and 3 years as Research Fellow of CSIR Labs. During teaching she has developed various labs including Heat Transfer, Mass Transfer and Chemical Reaction Engineering labs. The advance separation and research lab for M.Tech program was also developed. Besides teaching at UG and PG levels, Dr. Vandana Sakhre has made a significant contribution to R & D in Chemical Engineering. She is developed Gamma Irradiation Technique for Desulphurisation of high sulphur coals. She worked on Risk assessment of Chemical process industries. She has guided M. Tech. Scholars and has been awarded a Research Project from the AICTE in the field of Chemical Engineering. One pilot scale plant of Reactive Distillation column was developed and installed in MITS, Gwalior with Research fund obtained from AICTE.

Research Interest :

Apart from Teaching, it is mandatory to carry out research and publish papers. For this I have done some experimental work like synthesis of biodiesel, synthesis of ethers, synthesis of esters and synthesis of polymers in the laboratory both by conventional synthesis and synthesis in Reactive Distillation Column (RDC). I have developed kinetic models of the reactions carried out during synthesis and developed modeling equations. Apart from this I have performed detailed simulation with few innovations in design and synthesis in simulation software’s like Aspen Plus, Unisim Simulation Environment and MATLAB. Through all these researches I taught UG and PG students the various aspects of Laboratory Synthesis Techniques as well as Simulation Studies. With these studies including development of soft sensor for control of reactive distillation column using Neural Network I have also completed my Ph.D thesis. The UG and PG students also completed their project using pilot scale reactive distillation set up and simulation using process simulator as well as MATLAB.
