Dr. K.R. Mahadik graduated in Pharmacy from Shivaji University in 1980 with distinction and then received Masters Degree from Nagpur University in 1982 with First Class. He then completed his doctoral degree from University of Pune in 1993. He is currently the Dean, Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Bharati Vidyapeeth University and Principal and Professor of Pharmaceutical Chemistry at Bharati Vidyapeeth University Poona College of Pharmacy, Pune. During his under graduate and post-graduate studies, he was the recipient of National merit scholarship, Govt. of Maharashtra and JRF from U.G.C. He started his academic career as lecturer in 1982 at Bharati Vidyapeeth’s Poona College of Pharmacy and rose to the position of Principal and Professor at the same institute. During his career he is actively engaged in research, teaching and administrative responsibilities. He has guided more than 85 students for M.Pharm. and 25 doctoral students. This has translated into several research publications in national and international journals and patents. The research activities have been recognized nationally and internationally. He has to his credit 177 research papers in international and 73 national journals. He has filed 31 patents and presented over 70 research papers in international and 80 research papers in national conferences. He has authored nine books in different subjects of Pharmaceutical Chemistry and Pharm. Analysis. The academic efforts have been recognized duly. He is the recipient of “Best Teacher Award” by Government of Maharashtra for the year 2003-2004 and “Vishesh Seva Puraskar” by Bharati Vidyapeeth, Pune in May 2005. He received Best Principal of the Year Award 2012, by All India Pharmacy Teachers of India. He has got best research paper awards at various conferences. He is actively involved in activities of IPA. He was instrumental in revival of IPA, Pune branch. He was Hon. Secretary and Hon. Treasurer of IPA, Pune branch. He has been the Member of Management Council, Academic Council, faculty and Board of Studies of Several Universities. He is very active in the professional field. He is the member of more than 20 professional bodies. He is scientific referee for more than 10 international journals in pharmaceutical sciences. He has been the subject expert/ scientific referee for various central agencies like UPSC, PCI, ACITE, NBA and State agencies like MPSC, GPSC etc. Dr. K.R. Mahadik was honored with IPA Fellowship Award in 2008.
